>Walter D. Ehlers, World War II Hero awarded the Medal of Honor

Friday, Nov. 12th 2010

>I had no idea what I was in for when I went to shoot this “little” memorial ceremony. When I got there it was kind of a big deal. I had no idea that every veteran that lived in Buena Park, my hometown, would be present as well as BP honoring every soldier who had made the ultimate sacrifice with a memorial. A few of the families of the soldiers were there to witness it and it was emotional. My last blog was about this event if you would like to see pictures of the ceremony and I included a link below. However, I also had the pleasure of being in the presence of one of the few World War II Congessional Medal of Honor recipients living, which is why I wanted to dedicate a blog just to him as well as a few other people in attendance. My dad, Jim Dow, clued me in on who Ehlers was. He told me that every president since has invited him personally to the White House. Men wanted to shake his hand. I would hear them say things like, ” I saw you on the History Channel,” or “I have watched so many documentaries that you were in.” He has great respect in this nation. He led his troops and risked his life. He also lost a bother that was dear to him in that war. After the ceremony, Ehlers was pulled aside with just his daughter and was led to a plaque. Ehlers unveiled the plaque (pictured below) to see a dedication made to his brother who gave his life. On the top it reads: “My Brother was my Hero.” Ehlers began to weep……and so did I!

>Buena Park Honors Fallen Warriors & Memorial Dedication

Thursday, Nov. 11th 2010

>Yesterday I shot a very emotional ceremony honoring the fallen soldiers who have given their lives for our country, along with their families. Buena Park honored these soldiers by adding a memorial for every soldier who has died in combat. Parents and families as well as veterans in BP turned out. I will blog about this a couple of times because so many things took place, and there were  some very important and honorable people in my presence. I don’t blog much of the political stuff that I shoot, but I am very often shooting for the city and I have shot many politicians. This event really stands out to me as I was moved to tears a few times and really felt proud of our country and our soldiers. To see the comradery, respect, pain, and pride that all of these men, woman, and families have is very powerful.

Families received recognition for their fallen family members and received awards for their honor.

Senator Lou Correa was present to salute the veterans.

Family members of P4 Burrola were in attendance to do the unveiling.

The emotion in the crowd brought the reality of loss in war, moving and touching.

Every fallen soldier had their own plaque and were recognized individually.

Monday, Nov. 8th 2010

>Our Open House last week, called the Wedding Factory, was a complete success! We had a great turn out and I booked two weddings that night. Thank you to everyone who came by and Thank you to all the vendors that participated in the Wedding Factory Open House. We really appreciate it! Below are the vendors that participated at the show and links to their website. Some of the vendors also have an office in the same building. You could have your Wedding Photographer, Coordinator, Wedding Cake Baker, and Hair and Make-up all in the same office building! Other vendors joined us for the Open House to make it bigger but quaint! It was cute and a great opportunity for brides to see over a dozen vendors without the chaotic crowds and an overwhelming amount of vendors!

>Orange County Bride Magazine Blogs about our Open House Tonight!

Thursday, Nov. 4th 2010

>Tonight is our Open House for some of the best event and wedding vendors in OC. It is called the Wedding Factory and it is at our offices in Newport Beach from 7-9pm. There will be desserts and drinks. Check out the blog below by OC Bride Mag. Also blogged about by the Wedding Chicks and Ceremony Magazine blog. This Open House is meant to be quaint so that each guest has the opportunity to talk in length with each vendor. Here is your chance to not be trampled on by thousands of other brides and meet each vendor with almost a “mini” consultation. Each vendor is giving amazing package discounts, I am personally giving a $500 discount off of any of my packages.
