>PHOTO Contest for Amateurs

Tuesday, Dec. 28th 2010

>I have had so many people over the years talk to me about an amazing image they have captured. I can see the excitement in their faces and they want to share what they have produced, but where? Once people see my camera, I get question after question about my equipment, images they have captured, what and how I shoot, how to should use their camera, etc. I am amazed at the interest in photography, and since the digital age has taken over, more and more people are interested in owning a camera, learning how to really use it, and then actually shooting images that excite you. Amateurs can now afford great user friendly cameras that produce decent images, sometimes amateurs even capture an amazing image that looks PRO. So here is your chance! If you have an image that you have shot that you love submit it!

This Photo contest is free! All you have to do is send your image or images to capturingmoments@hotmail.com by Sunday, January 9th. The top images will then be blogged about and voted on by blog readers. There are no categories, just awesome images of whatever. The rules are you cannot be making consistent money from a photography business or have an active website which promotes your business. If you have made money here or there that is okay, but if you have a legitimate photography business that makes you money even part time then you are not a candidate. Anyone else can enter, even if you know me, the readers pick the winner, so I am out of it! Maybe you caught a really funny moment that you could never capture again, the perfect rainbow on a vacation, or an arsty image that you are proud of. Any picture that you have taken that you HAD to show off or that really brought a smile to your face. The winning image will be posted on a blog for acknowledgment as well as runner-ups and the first place winner gets a prize.  All photographs will not be blogged, and the most interesting or impressive will make the votes. Don’t hesitate, go and find your image or images and submit them now, what do you have to loose? Attach images in an email and send to: capturingmoments@hotmail.com – (please no images via facebook)
capturingmoments@hotmail.com – Link for Outlook users!

Below are some images that I have taken as examples of ideas on what to send. These are taken by me with a PRO camera and lots of years of experience so don’t get discouraged if you don’t think yours are as good. These are just examples!

>Fans of Heidi and Frank Show, Christmas Party at Rhythm Lounge

Wednesday, Dec. 15th 2010

>The reason Heidi and Frank had such a successful radio show, and are now making it big with their LIVE Internet Show and podcasts, is due to the love of their fans! The show is supported and promoted heavily by the very loyal listeners and fans. A lot of their listeners have followed their show for years, some more than a decade. They are like a hair stylist, no matter what salon they move to, we will follow. They have made their show so intimate and honest, that the fans can’t help but feel that Heidi, Frank, and now Smeez are part of their inner circle of friends. Some listen to their show faithfully and feel closer to Heidi and Frank then their own friends. They share intimate and embarrassing details of their personal lives, share crazy news stories, and share different and similar viewpoints of the world and the lives we live. Simply put they are entertaining and absolutely hilarious. Frank and Heidi are amazing at making each fan feel special, especially at their live shows are parties. They take pictures, dance with their fans, party, and really make everyone feel included. They are awesome with the crowd and treat their fans as their freinds. I can’t say enough about this show and these guys, although Frosty is missed, they have been able to make a smooth transition from radio into the internet and podcast world, and seemingly the show got funnier and better. I am doing this blog to showcase some of the fans. I am sorry I could not shoot everyone in attendance, but if you were in front of my camera and worked it, I tried to include you on this blog. If you see yourself please leave a comment!

DISCLAIMER: Some images may be graphic or offensive to some readers. (obviously not Heidi and Frank listeners) Please be advised that I covered this event, and in no way do I condone the actions or images of anyone or any details photographed. If you are easily offended or under age, this blog may not be for you and is in no way a reflection of Capturing Moments or Jaimee Hubert. My job is to document!

>Heidi & Frank Show Christmas Party 2010, The Party Pics

Monday, Dec. 13th 2010

>WOW! What a turn out, what seemed like thousands of Heidi and Frank fans showed up last night, December 11th, to Rhythm Lounge in Long Beach for their Holiday Party! Heidi and Frank really do have the best supporting fans ever! You really missed out if you did not make it as EVERYONE had a blast! I shot for 6 hours straight so I have a lot of great pics to show. I will blog first about Heidi and Frank, then about then fans and details of the party, so if you want to possibly see yourself I will blog the group and fan shots next. Heidi was gracious to all of her fans and greeted everyone of them taking pictures and hugging. Frank truly is the life of the party and every time I saw him, he was dancing, kissing or laughing with someone. Smeez laid low and drank a lot of beer, did not seem as into all the attention. I must say it was a lot of work following Heidi around, I have shot some really important people in my career, but their fans are relentless. I was getting anxious not being able to move and she had two body guards around her all night. It may sound like over kill, but I was there and I don’t blame her. The fans feel like they are their friends after listening for years and are very “affectionate” towards them. Heidi did a great job throwing an awesome party and I was glad to shoot and be a part of it. There was tons of drinking, dancing, shouting, presents, hot girls and FUN!!!! You really had to stay for the whole party!

If you are unfamiliar with Heidi and Frank, you may remember Frosty, Heidi, and Frank from 97.1 after Stern and before Tom Leykis. They then moved to AM radio and now are on the cutting edge of web podcasting, which will hopefully be the future of radio. Their online podcast show is LIVE daily from 10-Noon and has LIVE video feed and an one hour “After Hours” Show Friday where they let loose. If you have no idea who Heidi and Frank are, then click on their website link below to find out more and listen to their show. They are raw and honest and hilarious as heck! As they say, Radio is dead and you won’t be disappointed. I am a huge supporter as they are the ones that keep me laughing while I sit at this machine all week long and edit, I get bored with music or TV and I need noise, they bring it!

Thanks guys for all the years of laughs! Your show truly ROCKS!

Fans from Christmas Party Blog just posted, are you on it? Leave a comment!

>Me a Mentor?

Friday, Dec. 3rd 2010

>Thank you D. Park Photography for mentioning me and picturing me in their “Thankfulness Blog.” I am pictured with David while we were “hard at work” shooting a wedding together under their Mentors. Me…….a Mentor? Hahahaha…..they are probably regretful of that by now……I have worked them! Never mind the bruises on my arm from my Graston Therapy…..occupational hazard. : (Photographers stretch your shoulders and neck before and after you shoot so you don’t end up like me 🙂 Good job Drexelle, getting me to look decent in a pic takes some effort…..great blog you guys!

>USC Catholic Church, Groundbreaking & Cross Removal

Tuesday, Nov. 30th 2010

>I have had the privilege of shooting for USC Catholic Church for the last few years. It is a different shooting experience for me to document the church and their new venture of building an amazing Catholic Center. On this particular day, the cross was removed from the current church building, and their was a groundbreaking for the the church being built this next year. There were a lot of VIP’s there, including the most recent former USC president and first lady Mr. and Mrs. Sample, whom on campus are super respected and almost famous! I will blog about the dinner I shot honoring Mrs. Sample as the out going first lady soon. This truly was a cool experience, especially the cross removal, seeing Jesus on the cross being lowered to the ground was awesome, the crowd was silent, and some even emotional.

>Family Photoshoot at the Park

Tuesday, Nov. 30th 2010

>I have had the honor of photographing the Neemia’s wedding a few years ago, their maternity shoot, and now the first Neemia baby Marley! I love being able to watch my clients plan their weddings, get married, and then begin their families together. I get to watch their kids grow and that is a really cool part of my job. If you have never done a professional family shoot before you really have to book one. There is nothing like getting pro pics of your babies and kids, they truly are priceless. I just looked at a few shoots of my boys when they were babies and I just love them more then when I got them. Enjoy the lighting at this really secluded park!

>Fullerton Wedding, Springfeild Banquet Center

Wednesday, Nov. 24th 2010

>Congrats Ashley and Ryan on your beautiful wedding! I have done so many Fullerton weddings this year! Ashley was a beautiful to shoot and Ryan was in for the full picture taking experience. He wanted to still keep going. This was an extra large bridal party and they were also a lot of fun to work with, surprisingly cooperative. I love shooting at this park, it may look familiar to you since I have shot a lot there this year. The ceremony was held at Eastside Christian Church in Fullerton. Their reception was at Springfield banquet center in Fullerton, and for a “banquet center” it is really classy. The tables looked awesome. David and Drexelle Park came and shot some of this wedding with me, with D. Park Photography. I included some of their great shots!
