Angel’s Stadium Engagement Shoot

Jun. 26th 2012

I LOVE shooting at the Angel’s Stadium, this is my second engagement shoot and my couples rent out the entire stadium for an hour. This Fall I will shoot a huge Angel fan family for their Christmas cards. It is super harsh sun shooting there with very little shade and you are on a time crunch, but it is such a fun, colorful, and absolute unique engagement shoot to do. You sort of have to know someone to rent the stadium as they do not advertise it, but they do it! I really had a great time shooting this. The grooms absolutely LOVE shooting here. My first groom actually did a cart-wheel on the grass he was so excited, I had never had a more excited groom and huge Angel’s fan!

Congrats to my long time childhood friends Amber & Matt from Corey Elementary school in Buena Park, Ca. I have known these two for over 20 years. The grooms Mom drove my school bus growing up. I am of course honored to be standing in front of them on this special day. Amber and Matt are to be wed in August, and their lovely wedding will be held at The Turnip Rose in Orange County, California! I know this will be a fun time as Matt is a blast and was actually chosen as “Class Clown” our senior year…..hehehehe!

Family Photo Shoot at Fullerton Park, Orange County

Apr. 27th 2012

I have blogged so many photo shoots at this small park in Fullerton, California! It seems like most of my blogs have been here at this park lately, as I do mini shoot days here every few months and do 6-8 photo shoots back to back in one day. I have shot hundreds of shoots at this small secluded park and I know it now like the back of my hand. It is a great natural setting for family, pregnancy, engagement, and I have even shot many wedding shoots here. The park is rustic and often over grown and there is never anybody there. Enjoy this photo shoot of a long term client, I have shot every member of their family by now over the passed 8 years. Their kids are so stinkin’ cute that it was easy to capture great moments. I prefer to shoot candid, although I love stylized shoots too, but my personal style has always been to capture a family in their home or a natural setting and let the kids be themselves and the family sit together and capture what happens when they interact. Makes for great memories and real candid pictures to be cherished for decades to come.

>PRO Skater in the Making!

Oct. 20th 2010

>I love to document children and their interests and talents, they can be incorporated in your family shoot or just do a shoot of your kids and showcase their talents. Taj is a great skateboarder, at just 5 years old he is being asked to be sponsored. So this Mommy wanted pics of him ripping up the skate park for sponsors and for personal memories. If your kid is a gymnast, on a swim team, a ball player, etc. hire a pro photographer to come to a competition, game, or practice to get your kids in action. You can also just ask for a outfit change or another location for this in addition to your family shoot. These moments are precious and Taj will never be a 5 year old skateboarder again! 🙂

>Senior "Grad" Shoot in OC

Oct. 13th 2010

>I loved doing this photo shoot with Chelsea! She is not afraid of being in front of my camera, and she has a great look. Her hair is amazing and I love her freckles! She is very comfortable moving and humbly confident for her age. I did my first photo shoot with Chelsea about 6 years ago, when she was 12, and she definitely is not a little girl anymore! I kept telling her she looks like Lindsay Lohan, just much more wholesome. 🙂 A casting agent also wanted her to get some pictures done to see how she photographs, so she is able to do the shoot for two reason. I have said in previous blogs, hire a photographer outside of the school to do your senior shoot, it usually saves you money and you get so much more! The shoots are fun and we can be creative, change clothes, and they usually feel like a star on their own photoshoot…love shooting seniors! I like for seniors to choose a dressy look, a casual look, and something that showcases their 4 years of college if they did an extra curricular or showcases who they are as a teen.

>Classic Car Showroom Wedding- Night Club Themed

Oct. 8th 2010

>

I really loved this non-traditional wedding I shot at a Euromasters Classic Cars Showroom in Fountain Valley, California.   The wedding was uniquely themed as a “Nightclub” wedding, which as the images show definitely looked more like a night club then a wedding. There was live performances, plenty of details, a game room with Dance Dance Revolution and air hockey, as well as a well equipped dance floor including a semi-famous DJ and flat screen TV’s, very different and FUN! This venue is a “Must See” for any event or wedding. Think out of the box and look here before you go to a hotel or Country Club, this is place is classy, fun, and unique. It is a 37,000 sq ft. venue and I highly recommend it!

>Our Family Vacation 2010

Sep. 8th 2010

>Every year I LOVE going on family vacation with our boys. Get out of the hustle and bustle, drop your facebook & cell phones, and forget about life at home. Our boys LOVE to travel as well. Since we went to Costa Rica earlier this year, it was a real treat to hit the road again for more then 2 weeks. We started by traveling up the Coast of California, first stop just outside of Santa Rosa. We drive at night mostly so the kids sleep. 🙂 We stayed at my brother-in-laws which is 160 acres of trees, and nothing to do but enjoy nature, the lake where the boys got to paddle with their cousin, and veg out. I even sat and braided my hair I had so much time. It was awesome. Next stop was only a few hour drive to Trinidad, in Humboldt county, my other brother in laws. We stopped off at an awesome secluded watering hole with swinging ropes, it was beautiful!!! Trinidad is also kind of  remote beach living, it is on the coast so it is cool and beautiful with tons and tons of trees. Loved sitting in the Spa when it was cold (even though it was August) in the middle of the forest, huge fan! I did a family photoshoot in  Humboldt which I will blog about next. A few days later we headed out for another remote town, an hour outside of Seattle Washington, about a 10 hour drive. They have  Walmart about 15 minutes away and that is it. It is beautiful there, still cold and rainy even for summer. The boys got to fish and hang out with their cousins on the lake. Great time. We stayed there about 5 days and then headed to my sisters house in Boise Idaho, another 10 hour drive. Boise is beautiful as well, with it’s huge blue cloud filled skies. We drove through 4 states and made lots of memories. I do not usually blog too much about personal life, but love sharing pics of the boys and excursions when I can. I am not completely a plumber with leaky faucets. 🙂

The fun starts here! Parker, 6, always jumping.

The kids managing a canoe for the first time on their own. (Front) Landon, 7, Parker, 6, and Lilah, 6. (cousin)

Daddy takes the boys on quad rides, they Love country life!

On a hike to the secluded water hole!

This place was amazingly gorgeous, the pics do it no justice. We had this cove all to ourselves!

The boys were dirty almost the entire vacation! They loved it!

Landon was the only one to brave the freezing water to get to the swing rope. I was so proud of him as he coached his cousin and gave her support. She never jumped! You can see her below crying in the background, that lasted about 15 minutes.

And what would a special moment be if only one child was crying, oh ya symphony of tears. The water was too cold. It was beautiful for a time. 🙂

Next stop Humboldt were the boys got to bike! They bombed down this hill over and over and over then Parker nailed it at the skate park. BMX maybe?

Argggg…….the boys got their face painted at the street fair in Olympia Washington!

Love these shots of Daddy and his boys fishing. They watched everything he did and tried their best to copy him. Also love that my boys get the city knocked out of them on vacation.

Good job Parker, your first catch!

My Family in Washington, last minute pic before we drive away!

Me and my Auntie, the only picture of me the entire vacation. Darn it, not one of my family, typical!

My hubby is such a good Daddy, the boys adore him!

Waterfall in Oregon, on our way to Boise, Idaho.

My favorite shot I get in some way on every vacation! Thanks for checking out my family vacation. You are probably bored now…….until next time!

>Kids Headshots

Jul. 1st 2010

>Congrats to Austin & Owen who are signed with LA Models and doing their 3rd photo shoot. I am so excited about this shoot! Kids are very fun and easy for me to shoot. I am loving the change in the industry with head shots and fashion shoots being more realistic. Nowadays kids can be kids in their photo shoots. Agents want to see kids moving and showcasing who they are and what they are good at. No more straight traditional black and white head shots. Now photographers can have fun, kids can be kids, and the shoots are brighter and show personality…..thank goodness. I was not a fan of the black and white smile and look at the camera with all kinds of rules and regulations by the agencies. The pictures can be bright and FUN!!!! Teens and adults have changed as well, it is much more about showing who you are now. If your children are into modeling, commercials, acting, etc……your shoot in my opinion should look more like this one for your zed cards. This does not have to cost and arm and a leg, just find the right photographer so you don’t have to re-shoot every few months! Break a leg!

Bridal Portraits at St. Regis Moarch Beach

May. 19th 2010

The St. Regis Monarch Beach is one of Orange County’s premier wedding venues. Located in Dana Point, the St. Regis Monarch drips in class and style. For a photographer, it is a wonderful place to shoot bridal portraits and romantics. Brides seem to exude confidence and class while walking through the St. Regis to do their shoot. I notice the brides shoulders back and head held high on her wedding day at the St. Regis, almost regal, feeling gorgeous. There are a few options on where to have your ceremony on the premises, and many places to shoot the bride and romantics. As a photographer, I absolutely  love shooting the “getting ready” shots. It is the calm before the storm, where all the girls fuss over and adorn the bride. Months or years of planning have come down to this moment. I get to be artistic and spend an hour shooting the “reality” of the moment, and I get to shoot the details. All the while, music is flooding the background and all the ladies are getting excited to “dress” the bride. An ordeal that can take up to 30 minutes and many bodies and hands to help pull, tie, scrunch, cinch, whatever is needed for the perfect outcome.

The St. Regis can be over most brides budgets, however consider a daytime wedding there, or consider cutting your guests down and doing a more intimate wedding to have it a 5 star venue. I love doing “getting ready” portraits at this venue. As a matter of fact, many brides stay there the night before with their bridesmaids, so that their getting ready, bridesmaids, and bridal portraits are shot at the St. Regis and then off to the ceremony. This is a great idea for any high end venue. If you love it, but cannot afford to have your wedding there, like the Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons, consider getting a room to at least utilize the venue for more amazing high end wedding images.

Congrats to Michelle and Joe and their wedding on April 24th, 2010. I will blog this wedding a few times because their where 5 locations and there are too many great images to share. So I will blog this wedding in sections so you get a good feel of the diversity this wedding has due to all of the locations. The images have many different looks and feels, from classy to fun, from pretty to edgy. Giving the couple and myself many options to create a story for the wedding album design. Here are some getting ready images and some bridal portraits taken at the St. Regis, this bride once again did not have her ceremony there, but smart enough to plan to stay the night before her wedding to get images at this amazing high-end venue!
