Mission San Juan Capistrano

Oct. 3rd 2012

I have been on a bit of a blogging hiatus due to technical difficulties and traveling this summer for some amazing destination weddings. I thought this 2 part wedding would be the perfect wedding to blog about to get back into the swing of things. As you can tell my images are small, so still trying to work out the kinks of my custom blog, my apologies. However, I hope you can see the genius in this wedding by A Good Affair Wedding and Event Production. Natalie’s weddings are always over the top and done with amazing taste and style, especially when you get amazing wedding venues like these. The Mission San Juan Capistrano is a dream wedding venue for any Southern California Wedding Photographer. The Spanish landscape is breathtaking and romantic boasting endless places to capture dream wedding images. The Mission is also the oldest building in all of California, so it is a very special place dripping with history and wonder. The Batista is a small Catholic Chapel on the premises and Victoria & Greg chose to have their military wedding there. Since this wedding is so awesome, I have way too many images to share in just one blog. I will blog first about the mission and their romantic images, and in the second blog I will showcase the Classy Wedding Reception at the Newport Hyatt Regency. I will link the part 2 blog here when it is published. Thank you Natalie and all the other vendors featured below for another GREAT wedding!

>Baby’s First Photo Shoot

Jul. 20th 2011

>

Love New Baby Shoots in Studio, especially since I have a portable studio that I can take with me anywhere I go. New parents love the idea of not having to leave the home. You don’t have to get everyone ready, rush out with all of the loot, find parking, get out, etc, etc. So I come to the home and set up my humble studio and capture the magic of your new baby. Dad’s I have found especially love this. They never want to leave the house to go to the mall or a studio. Parents love the park too so older kids can run and play, it feel like the family is creating more memories vs. “producing” a photo shoot. Year after year I do shoot days at the park, and the kids and family look forward to this bi-annual shoot. For new babies, I find that anywhere from 2-12 weeks is great for the first baby pictures, depending on what you want to capture. I recommend studio look for the first shoot and then getting out in the world for most shoots after that. I love capturing the first and last moments of peoples lives, there is something very special about that. The images will literally be around forever! Invest in these type of shoots, they are priceless and you never get those moments again. Here is an example of a typical babies first photo shoot…..

>Heidi & Frank Show Christmas Party 2010, The Party Pics

Dec. 13th 2010

>WOW! What a turn out, what seemed like thousands of Heidi and Frank fans showed up last night, December 11th, to Rhythm Lounge in Long Beach for their Holiday Party! Heidi and Frank really do have the best supporting fans ever! You really missed out if you did not make it as EVERYONE had a blast! I shot for 6 hours straight so I have a lot of great pics to show. I will blog first about Heidi and Frank, then about then fans and details of the party, so if you want to possibly see yourself I will blog the group and fan shots next. Heidi was gracious to all of her fans and greeted everyone of them taking pictures and hugging. Frank truly is the life of the party and every time I saw him, he was dancing, kissing or laughing with someone. Smeez laid low and drank a lot of beer, did not seem as into all the attention. I must say it was a lot of work following Heidi around, I have shot some really important people in my career, but their fans are relentless. I was getting anxious not being able to move and she had two body guards around her all night. It may sound like over kill, but I was there and I don’t blame her. The fans feel like they are their friends after listening for years and are very “affectionate” towards them. Heidi did a great job throwing an awesome party and I was glad to shoot and be a part of it. There was tons of drinking, dancing, shouting, presents, hot girls and FUN!!!! You really had to stay for the whole party!

If you are unfamiliar with Heidi and Frank, you may remember Frosty, Heidi, and Frank from 97.1 after Stern and before Tom Leykis. They then moved to AM radio and now are on the cutting edge of web podcasting, which will hopefully be the future of radio. Their online podcast show is LIVE daily from 10-Noon and has LIVE video feed and an one hour “After Hours” Show Friday where they let loose. If you have no idea who Heidi and Frank are, then click on their website link below to find out more and listen to their show. They are raw and honest and hilarious as heck! As they say, Radio is dead and you won’t be disappointed. I am a huge supporter as they are the ones that keep me laughing while I sit at this machine all week long and edit, I get bored with music or TV and I need noise, they bring it!

Thanks guys for all the years of laughs! Your show truly ROCKS!

Fans from Christmas Party Blog just posted, are you on it? Leave a comment!

>Photoshoot Days In Orange County

Oct. 20th 2010

>I have been blogging most recently about the family shoot days I have been doing over the last few months. I offer 50% off on these shoot days, and have many many clients who wait for these days to get their affordable photo shoots. A location is chosen, then shoots are scheduled every 30 minutes, and you get a 30 minutes photo shoot with me, including full editing and a CD with full copyrights. On this shoot day I did urban shoots in downtown Brea, this family hung out, played, and treated their baby to her first ice cream cone…..priceless! It is a great way to get a photoshoot for graduating seniors, new baby, family, pregnancy, head shots, band shoots, etc. Inquire about upcoming shoot days to get your photoshoot!

>I Have the Best Clients Ever!

Oct. 20th 2010

>

I must say I have the best clients ever! In my career as a professional photographer I know I get a lot more accolades and “pats on the back” then most people do in their line of business. My clients are typically excited and ecstatic to see their images, and overwhelmed with the outcome. I must admit I send out “sneak peaks” so my clients get excited and also because I love the great feedback, it keeps me happily editing. I have made some lifelong friends shooting people on the most important days of their lives. When I shoot someones engagements, then wedding, followed by their pregnancy shoot and new baby portraits, then the family grows and continues and I am there to document it all. I get a lot of great emails and phone calls, and some clients are so thoughtful that they even send me gifts. I wanted to say “Thank You” to the clients who have went above and beyond to thank me. Whether you have gave me a great review, sent me an awesome email, gave me a gift or said how much they loved their images. I am greatly for you and it means a lot! Pictured below, I was most recently received a LV bag from a bride who I have spent a lot of time with working on her wedding day and album. Also, I was so thrilled to open the door the other day and have a client send me an edible arrangement as a “Thank you,” so appreciated! I also was given a gift card for Glen Ivy, movie tickets for the kids, and even gourmet dog treats for my St. Bernard and black lab…..can you believe they thought about my dogs? I LOVE MY CLIENTS!!!!

>Senior "Grad" Shoot in OC

Oct. 13th 2010

>I loved doing this photo shoot with Chelsea! She is not afraid of being in front of my camera, and she has a great look. Her hair is amazing and I love her freckles! She is very comfortable moving and humbly confident for her age. I did my first photo shoot with Chelsea about 6 years ago, when she was 12, and she definitely is not a little girl anymore! I kept telling her she looks like Lindsay Lohan, just much more wholesome. 🙂 A casting agent also wanted her to get some pictures done to see how she photographs, so she is able to do the shoot for two reason. I have said in previous blogs, hire a photographer outside of the school to do your senior shoot, it usually saves you money and you get so much more! The shoots are fun and we can be creative, change clothes, and they usually feel like a star on their own photoshoot…love shooting seniors! I like for seniors to choose a dressy look, a casual look, and something that showcases their 4 years of college if they did an extra curricular or showcases who they are as a teen.

>Classic Car Showroom Wedding- Night Club Themed

Oct. 8th 2010

>

I really loved this non-traditional wedding I shot at a Euromasters Classic Cars Showroom in Fountain Valley, California.   The wedding was uniquely themed as a “Nightclub” wedding, which as the images show definitely looked more like a night club then a wedding. There was live performances, plenty of details, a game room with Dance Dance Revolution and air hockey, as well as a well equipped dance floor including a semi-famous DJ and flat screen TV’s, very different and FUN! This venue is a “Must See” for any event or wedding. Think out of the box and look here before you go to a hotel or Country Club, this is place is classy, fun, and unique. It is a 37,000 sq ft. venue and I highly recommend it!

>Senior "Grad" pics in San Diego

Oct. 5th 2010

>Senior “Grad” pictures are really fun for me! It’s a fun age to do a photo shoot and they are usually super excited! High schools still do traditional studio shots for upwards of $700 a package, so it has become more popular to hire an outside photographer and in some cases even save you money for better work. On this shoot we did a few locations in Downtown San Diego and a few wardrobe changes. I like to showcase a graduating senior in a few different ways to make it fun and exciting for them. We had fun roaming the boardwalk and I actually had my brand new flash literally explode while shooting. It sounded like a fire cracker and the front plastic piece shot 12 feet to my models feet. It was really weird! Anyhow graduating seniors, do your senior pics with a photographer outside of the school and you can submit one of their photos for the year book, instead of doing the traditional studio shoot.

>Capturing Moments blogged about by A Good Affair

Oct. 4th 2010

>Thank you Natalie for your awesome write up and compliments, and for choosing Capturing Moments as a featured vendor on your blog. I have worked with Natalie with A Good Affair, wedding planning and design on dozens of weddings over the past five years. Natalie is so easy to work with and has amazing taste!!!! Two of my wedding galleries are her weddings. I know when I work with A Good Affair it is going to be a great wedding that is well planned and organized. All of her brides are very well taken care of, and she ends up saving her brides money when they use her coordination, design, and her preferred vendors. You can’t go wrong with Natalie and her team, I always look forward to going to work that day, and know that I am going to have spectacular details and design aspects to shoot. Check out the blog and her site. As I have said in previous blogs, I highly recommend a coordinator as well as a designer that can help with different elements of your wedding and save you money in the long run. A really great planner will give you a better wedding then you could have ever dreamed of with the same budget in mind. They are creative, artistic, organized, and manage your vendors and all behind the scenes aseptic of the day so you or your Mom don’t have to.

>Family Shoot Day- Urban Kids in Downtown Brea

Oct. 1st 2010

>Love this urban, colorful, fun shoot for the kids!!! This was shot on one of my family shoot days this past weekend. You are not limited to a family shoot on these days, you can use the shoot for whatever you want; engagement, graduation, headshots, etc. These shoots are half off my usual prices and are 30 minute mini shoots. It is a great way to get amazing images, at an affordable rate. I shoot about 30 families a year before Christmas from September-November. I usually will pick the day and location and then people just sign up for a time slot. They include full editing and full copyrights as all of my photo shoots do, I really feel in this digital age clients should own all of their own images. I have been documenting these kids since they were babies. It is so fun to watch all of these kids grow up, and weird! We hung out, played, got ice cream, and set up fun shots with the shopping cart and ice cream cones. These shoots actually create fun memories as well. On family shoots it is all about having fun, creating a natural comfortable environment, and catching special moments that are always happening. Enjoy pics of the Clark kids!
