I have been shooting this family for over 8 years now. Veronica’s parents happen to be my old neighbors and I have become their family photographer. I shot Veronica and Daniels Orange County wedding a few years ago and now they have a little one, so family shoots are next of course. This shoot was shot at the Fullerton Arboretum. I was personally married there over 12 years ago, so I most obviously LOVE shooting there. It is gorgeous for family, engagement shoots, bride and grooms, etc. A wonderful shoot, at a wonderful place, with a wonderful family! Thank you for the continued support in my photography work. I look forward to watching Dominic grow up!

I have blogged so many photo shoots at this small park in Fullerton, California! It seems like most of my blogs have been here at this park lately, as I do mini shoot days here every few months and do 6-8 photo shoots back to back in one day. I have shot hundreds of shoots at this small secluded park and I know it now like the back of my hand. It is a great natural setting for family, pregnancy, engagement, and I have even shot many wedding shoots here. The park is rustic and often over grown and there is never anybody there. Enjoy this photo shoot of a long term client, I have shot every member of their family by now over the passed 8 years. Their kids are so stinkin’ cute that it was easy to capture great moments. I prefer to shoot candid, although I love stylized shoots too, but my personal style has always been to capture a family in their home or a natural setting and let the kids be themselves and the family sit together and capture what happens when they interact. Makes for great memories and real candid pictures to be cherished for decades to come.

As I have said in previous blogs, I do not specialize in baby photography, but most of my couples come back to me a year or two after being married for pregnancy and new baby shoots! I try my best to showcase the reality. I don’t use a lot of props or backdrops, I just keep it simple. I do think simple will last the test of time, black will never go out of style and neither will your baby! 🙂

I love this couple, they are so cool! Their wedding was over 4 years ago at Tustin Ranch Country Club in Southern California and they had no plans on having children. A year ago, the doctor told them that this was their last chance if they wanted to have a baby. After they thought about it, they decided to go for it. They are ecstatic on the birth of their new baby boy and they absolutely love his precious first pictures!

I take a portable studio to my clients home so everyone is comfy! Clients love this! They do not have to leave the house which is a huge ordeal especially for parents of their first baby. I set up a backdrop and lighting and we take our time, this is especially important for parents with many children or twins, where leaving the house the first or second week to go to a studio would sound like climbing Mt. Everest! Enjoy these 6 day old baby pics!

The longer I shoot weddings, the more I shoot new baby and family shoots! Most of my wedding couples start a family soon after the wedding, and I have gotten to shoot some of my families for 6 years now. Their children look forward to their photoshoots every year, and they are awesome models for me by this point. The shoots actually create tradiotion and family memories, and I get to be apart of that year after year. Love that part!

Giannina and Aaron wed last year at one of my favorite wedding venues of all time, Calimigos Ranch in Malibu California. I actually made their wedding one of my wedding galleries on my website I liked it so much, I included the link below to see their wedding gallery. It is so fun to start a journey with my couples. Starting before they are married, I had the privilege of shooting their engagement shoot, then their amazing wedding, and now of course their super cute pregnancy shoot. They drove all the way from Las Vegas to Orange County just to do this shoot. I love my loyal clients! Cute detail, the chalkboard used in this pregnancy shoot was the same chalkboard used at their wedding. 🙂 I can’t wait to do a photoshoot with the baby and I will see you guys in June when I shoot your sisters wedding!

Love New Baby Shoots in Studio, especially since I have a portable studio that I can take with me anywhere I go. New parents love the idea of not having to leave the home. You don’t have to get everyone ready, rush out with all of the loot, find parking, get out, etc, etc. So I come to the home and set up my humble studio and capture the magic of your new baby. Dad’s I have found especially love this. They never want to leave the house to go to the mall or a studio. Parents love the park too so older kids can run and play, it feel like the family is creating more memories vs. “producing” a photo shoot. Year after year I do shoot days at the park, and the kids and family look forward to this bi-annual shoot. For new babies, I find that anywhere from 2-12 weeks is great for the first baby pictures, depending on what you want to capture. I recommend studio look for the first shoot and then getting out in the world for most shoots after that. I love capturing the first and last moments of peoples lives, there is something very special about that. The images will literally be around forever! Invest in these type of shoots, they are priceless and you never get those moments again. Here is an example of a typical babies first photo shoot…..

>Attention ALL Shoot Day Families……Holiday Shoot Days will be done EARLY this year!!! I know it seems weird to start shooting Holiday pictures months before the Holiday season, but every year I am shooting them earlier and earlier. This year it is especially important to schedule your shoot if you want one for the Holidays at my special half off rate of $250 for a family of 4. Each shoot is 20-30 minutes and will include a top 100-200 images including Full editing and Full Copyrights! Beach day is $25 more and each additional person is $25 and adds time and images onto your shoot. Below are a few dates and the locations I will be shooting. Doing the shoots a few months early gives everyone plenty of time to plan a shoot, get the editing done, get the CD sent, choose images, then get cards designed, ordered and delivered maybe even early this year! I am only scheduled to be in Orange County two more times and the last trip is in September. So far, I will not be coming back down before the Holiday season. It is very possible a trip may be added, but as of now you must book your family shoot in August or in September. I know there are about 30-40 families I usually do a shoot for, so please get booked asap if you want one this year as I will only be able to shoot half of you this year!  Can’t wait to see you and all of your cute kids!

For New baby shoots I prefer going to the families home to do the shoot. I find kids and people in general are more comfortable in their own homes. To get a family ready with a new baby and drive to a studio is also a lot of work, new Mom’s and Dad’s love the convenience of not having to leave the house and have a “no stress” shoot in their own setting. I bring a portable studio for a studio feel, and then also shoot in the clients home or yard for a natural light look. I love candid moments, semi-posed shots, and the artsy details! I like the contrast of this shoot as well with the choice of the studio look in black and the natural light with the white background. This family looks so happy! They are welcoming their 3rd child and first son to the family, and you can see how ecstatic they are. Consider doing your next family shoot at your home, they are priceless images!

>I love to document children and their interests and talents, they can be incorporated in your family shoot or just do a shoot of your kids and showcase their talents. Taj is a great skateboarder, at just 5 years old he is being asked to be sponsored. So this Mommy wanted pics of him ripping up the skate park for sponsors and for personal memories. If your kid is a gymnast, on a swim team, a ball player, etc. hire a pro photographer to come to a competition, game, or practice to get your kids in action. You can also just ask for a outfit change or another location for this in addition to your family shoot. These moments are precious and Taj will never be a 5 year old skateboarder again! 🙂

>I have been blogging most recently about the family shoot days I have been doing over the last few months. I offer 50% off on these shoot days, and have many many clients who wait for these days to get their affordable photo shoots. A location is chosen, then shoots are scheduled every 30 minutes, and you get a 30 minutes photo shoot with me, including full editing and a CD with full copyrights. On this shoot day I did urban shoots in downtown Brea, this family hung out, played, and treated their baby to her first ice cream cone…..priceless! I must say I have the best clients ever! In my career as a professional photographer I know I get a lot more accolades and “pats on the back” then most people do in their line of business. My clients are typically excited and ecstatic to see their images, and overwhelmed with the outcome. I must admit I send out “sneak peaks” so my clients get excited and also because I love the great feedback, it keeps me happily editing. I have made some lifelong friends shooting people on the most important days of their lives. When I shoot someones engagements, then wedding, followed by their pregnancy shoot and new baby portraits, then the family grows and continues and I am there to document it all. I get a lot of great emails and phone calls, and some clients are so thoughtful that they even send me gifts. I wanted to say “Thank You” to the clients who have went above and beyond to thank me. Whether you have gave me a great review, sent me an awesome email, gave me a gift or said how much they loved their images. I am greatly for you and it means a lot! I also was given a gift card for Glen Ivy, movie tickets for the kids, and even gourmet dog treats for my St. Bernard and black lab…..can you believe they thought about my dogs? I LOVE MY CLIENTS!!!!
